We find hidden gems of long-ago busy towns in our country's landscape. The puddle from melting snow on this bright winter's day, showcases a reflection of the old coaling tower in the historic town of Thurmond, WV, a boomtown in the 1920's, originally accessible solely by railroad. Today, virtually untouched by modern development, it serves as a link to our past where visitors to this New River Gorge National River site can visualize the hustle and bustle of bygone days.
